GPS Mission FAQ

> That sounds awesome. What does it cost?

This depends on the contract you have with your mobile phone service provider.

  • Your provider will charge you for your online costs depending on your contract! You absolutely need to understand your data transfer costs before playing!
  • Apart from that, signing up and playing GPS Mission is free.

> What phones are supported?

GPS Mission supports Nokia (Symbian S60) and Windows Mobile (PocketPC) based phones. Follow the links for some more info. You need a phone with an internal GPS device or an external GPS device (Bluetooth "GPS mouse").

> Installing GPS Mission on a Windows phone

To install GPS Mission, register and follow the download link. You can also download directly from your mobile by pointing your mobile browser to www.gpsmission.com/.

> Do I really need GPS?

Yes. You need either an internal GPS in your phone, or an external Bluetooth GPS device ("GPS mouse").

> Battery power

When going out to play, charge your battery to the fullest level in advance. GPS and internet connection eat a lot of electricity.

> What does "beta" mean?

We are improving the software every day. It is not a finished product. You may need to download updates to keep the game running during beta phase. If this is the case, it will be announced in the GPS Mission news.

> I would like to play and everything seems to work - but there is no mission in my area.

In GPS Mission the users - you - supply the content. You can look for missions others have designed using the mission browser.

Designing missions is creative and may be even more fun than playing them. Go ahead, take a few pictures and use the mission designer to create a compelling mission. If you are not feeling too creative today, you can also go and collect gold that can be found in nearly all areas without missions. But don't forget: Creating missions will get you gold also when people start playing your missions.

> Can you suggest an external GPS device?

For us the Holux M-1200 worked well on both Nokia phones and on Windows Mobile.
