A long time ago, there was a girl named Mariken, who needed to go to Nijmegen for some shopping. She couldn't get home before the night falled and wanted to stay at her aunt's place. Her aunt didn't wat her to stay and left her on the streets. This night Mariken met Moenen, a nice man who toke Mariken to a trip around Europe... Moenen wasn't the nice guy you should think he was, in fact he was a devil. After many years Mariken and Moenen came back to Nijmegen where Mariken wanted to leave Moenen. Moenen threw Mariken in the air as revenge and droped her down on the "Grote Markt". Mariken survived and stayed in a convent for the rest of her life... till the day God forgived her and toke her to heaven. Moenen & Mariken is a famous story in Nijmegen. Everywhere in the city you find some references to Moenen and Mariken. This trip will lead you to some historic places in Nijmegen. Enjoy!
