Missions created by the community can still be played for free. The new and free of charge GPS Mission Lite client contains all features of the previous versions as well as many improvements.

A new version of GPS Mission has become available in the App Store on the 25th of March for free. Click here to get GPS Mission from the App Store.Some of the most interesting new features and useful improvements are:
- Send waymarks to your friends directly from your phone (even if they don’t have GPS Mission).
- Improved usability: help for most screens.
- Informational pop-ups when tapping objects in the map. No need to leave the map anymore to see important information.
- Live players are shown on the map in green, recent players in gray.
- Additional information about other players (last played mission, amount of gold owned, etc).
- Optional Lon/Lat coordinates displayed on map screen.
The new version fixes a number of bugs. The waymark upload bug & bugs with special characters and Umlauts have been fixed. If you are using GPS Mission for the iPhone, you should try the update. Have fun!

If you’re spending time in one of the US state capitals, there is a fun little GPS game and a dedicated trophy available to you.This week we’ve added 50 missions in the US state capitals. To get an overview, check out this clickable map of the US that links to all the missions. Have a walk around one of the capitol buildings, explore interesting places, and maybe you’ll also learn something (we did…). If you finish one of these missions, you’ll get the seal of the state for your trophy board!

This week we have released a Facebook widget for GPS Mission. If you are in Facebook, you should give it a try. Click on the headline of this news article to go to the widget in facebook.
With this widget you can post to the Facebook newsfeed from your GPS-enabled phone, live – while you are playing GPS Mission outside – including your waymark pictures and positions!
There’s also a little display for your Facebook profile where people can see your last picture and position (if you published them) – also with a link to the map.
It’s easy to install. Just go to the widget and click "GO TO APPLICATION". – Follow the instructions. During the installation you will need your GPS Mission account name and password. After installing the widget, you are all set and can start publishing waymarks to Facebook from your mobile device.

If you live in England, turn on your GPS phone and check if there is a new mission in your area!
We have added over fifty new missions – at the end of each one you can get the coat of arms of a county or a town as a trophy (see picture). This is an example in Exeter.
That’s over fifty new trophies available in England only. For browsing through the new missions, try this search or go to the mission browser. The coat of arms missions are visible if you zoom in enough. And don't mention the football match yesterday...

GPS Mission, the location-based gaming platform where players create missions for others - is awarding the best mission of the month.
We’re happy to be able to announce the jury of the monthly mission design award: Kevin Slavin (Area/Code), Hendrik Lesser (ML Enterprises GmbH, Chimera Entertainment) and Gunnar Glott (IDG Entertainment media GmbH) will decide who will win the Nokia N82 for the best mission designed in September. We are proud to have such a competent group of gaming and location-based entertainment experts on our jury!
The first round of the competition will end on Sunday, the 5th of October on midnight (CET). Mission must be published until then to qualify. It’s still a lot time to be creative – be a story teller or a quiz master, you decide.
The competition will continue in October with another N82 to give away. The price comparison portal billiger.de is sponsoring these great GPS phones. So, don’t ever compare prices anywhere else! A big thank you goes to billiger!

Our Oktoberfest competition enters its hot phase and still everybody has the chance to win the trip to the Oktoberfest. The competition will end on August, 14!!!
Orbster is giving away a trip for two to the one who collects the most gold until then. This trip to the Oktoberfest in Munich includes flight, transfer to the hotel, the hotel itself (two nights) and 10 Maß (liters) of beer (legal regulations apply, for full rules see our web page). Be the owner of the Golden Gamsbart trophy by the end of our beta phase on 14th of August and you are the winner.
To be the owner of the Golden Gamsbart trophy and thereby winner of GPS Mission Beta you must have collected more gold than any other player.

Check out the new version of our Mission Designer! It is now possible to directly create checkpoints from your waymarks. This
feature allows you to go out, drop waymarks and directly use those waymarks when designing a mission. So there is nothing against a short walk on sunday afternoon to plan your next mission!

We have created a unique trophy: The mysterious and unique
Golden Gamsbart. It serves as a challenge cup for the highscore-leader at the end of our beta phase. Whoever holds the cup by then will win a trip to the original Oktoberfest 2008 in Munich, Bavaria - we pay for the trip, hotel and obviously beer.

GPS Mission (in its Symbian S60 incarnation) has been selected for the final round of judging in the Navteq LBS Challenge 2008 Asia-Pacific Region! Use our mission browser to look at example missions in Singapore, such as The Raffles Shuffle or Fort Canning Hill. Check out the LBS Challenge website to see how we are doing in the finals.
